Handmade Papercuts by Dmytro and Iuliia

Using a single piece of paper and taking hours or sometimes days to complete, Dmytro and Iuliia cut out these finely detailed designs using magnificent use of negative space. Their work is available for purchase over at the etsy.

This is a fine example of how beautiful and historically fascinating a collection of small historic pueblo pots can be.

Condition is excellent and unrestored. gallery owner Robert Nichols chose to not restore pots in his collection even if they had chips (which this one doesn’t) in order to keep them in the original form.

Old Santa Clara pitchers are among the hardest to acquire. They seem to not have been made in any quantity at any time and likely were mostly considered to be utilitarian rather than art market ware. So possibly, they were used and then “recycled” as they disintegrated over time; thus creating the cause for their rarity today. This is a delightful example, elegant and highly polished all over. There is a sharp mid-body break flexure leading downward to the pedestal base. While this flexure adds a formal presence to the pitcher, the slight downward lean on the spout side lends a homemade charm to this delightful example.

This reclaimed wood table is a great conversational piece in any...

This reclaimed wood table is a great conversational piece in any design.

designnimbus:

We attempted to make a very comfortable, contemporary sofa. Ploum is an exercise in comfort and combines two materials: stretch-fabric upholstery and ultra-flexible resilient foam. The shape and vast proportions were specially studied to allow the whole body to recline in many different positions on

the sofa’s supple, quilted surface without edges. Its seat is relatively low, we wanted it to be organic. We pictured Ploum like a ripe, voluptuous piece of fruit.

Perhaps the use of a stretchy fabric is a symbolic parallel to a contemporary lifestyle, in which flexibility of use and comfort seem to us to be essential.

The Chand Baori well, Rajasthan, India.

‘Built in the 9th century, it has 3500 narrow steps and 13 stories and is 100 feet deep.

Built back in the 10th century, the incredible well of Chand Baori, India was a practical solution to the water problem in the area. The arid climate forced the locals to dig deep for a dependable water source, one that would last throughout an entire year. Chand Baori well is 30 meters deep, it has 13 floors and 3,500 steps.

It is a fine example of the architectural excellence prevalent in the past. This impressive step well is as deep as a seven storeyed building. The famous Harshat Mata temple situated opposite to this well shows that there must have been a religious connection with the step-well. Length of well is 35 metres on each side with steps leading down from each side and water can be drawn from any level.’

The well was used in the film The Fall, starring Lee Pace.
